White House gives agencies 30 days to impose federal device TikTok ban, per CNBC.
Canada recently banned it, on Feb 27, as well.
"This may be a first step, it may be the only step we need to take," Justin Trudeau said.
As government bans TikTok on work phones, "many Canadians, businesses and private individuals will reflect on the security of their own data and perhaps make choices in consequence," he said.
Last week, Canada's federal and three provincial privacy regulators said they were investigating TikTok.
In December, the US Senate voted to ban TikTok from all government devices.
Reportedly, Reuters states that a proposal will be included to do the same in a key spending bill, which won backing by Nancy Pelosi and Kevin McCarthy last week.
This week, Louisiana and West Virgina banned TikTok on governmental devices.
