Per Elon Musk
Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter started with a massive wipeout, with thousands of employees losing their jobs. Notably, after this, the new Twitter CEO launched multiple campaigns that saw the activation of accounts that were previously questionably banned.
Musk has decided to reinstate previously banned accounts like Donald Trump or Kanye "Ye" West, which raised eyeballs. Even more so was his decision to kick Ye shortly after reinstating his account.
After that, the Twitter CEO started focusing more on Twitter Files, which revealed files and evidence of stories related to Hunter Biden and misinformation. Twitter Files is expected to release more information about COVID-19 and Fauci's involvement, per Musk.
The Twitter CEO now announced that he is also focusing more on eliminating bots on the social platform. A thread by Wall Street Silver that tested using words that would normally make the account a target for bots like, "Binance SBF FTX Bitcoin dogecoin crypto Tether" to see if there was still an overload of bots said that overall, 90% of the problem was fixed.
In Musk's announcement in his war against bots on Twitter, saying they were in for a surprise, Michael Saylor, co-founder of MicroStrategy, brought up the importance of another question, what is the percentage of toxic behavior on the platform that is actually bots and not people?
Saylor: "It is quite possible that the vast majority of critical, malicious, and divisive discourse is driven by a few diabolical actors driving large bot armies."
The MicroStrategy co-founder pointed out how it is still unknown as to how much toxicity actually comes from people as opposed to bots. Musk replied to this possibility by saying that he thinks there is a small number of humans responsible for large bot/troll armies.
Musk: "We are shutting down IP addresses of known bad actors today. Should have been done long ago."
Instead of approaching the bots like humans, Musk will shut down IP addresses of known bad actors, which would potentially help ban more toxicity on the social platform.
