U.S. President Joe Biden is preparing to propose a major Supreme Court overhaul that would include term limits for justices and an enforceable ethics code

U.S. President Joe Biden is preparing to propose a significant overhaul of the Supreme Court in the upcoming week, including introducing term limits for justices and establishing an enforceable ethics code, as reported by the Washington Post on Tuesday, citing two sources familiar with the plans.

The Post also reported that Biden is considering whether to advocate for a constitutional amendment to eliminate broad presidential immunity.

During a call with the Congressional Progressive Caucus on Saturday, Biden indicated that he would unveil or seek some form of Supreme Court reform, according to a source familiar with the discussion. However, he did not provide specific details during that conversation.

Previously, Biden had resisted calls to reform the Supreme Court by implementing term limits or expanding the number of seats on the bench. These calls gained momentum following former President Donald Trump's appointment of three conservative justices. Any reforms of this nature would require support from Congress.

In October, a bipartisan group of legal experts endorsed 18-year term limits for Supreme Court justices as a means to reduce partisanship and enhance the judiciary's credibility.
